The Battlefield of Verdun
The Battlefield of Verdun comprises the National Necropolis, Fort Douaumont, Fort de Vaux and the Tranchée des Baïonnettes, a major national and global site of remembrance.
It also includes the Douaumont Ossuary, probably the most enlightening and spectacular monument pertaining to the First World War. In front of this majestic, historic memorial lie the 16,142 graves of the Douaumont National Necropolis.

How to get to Verdun ?
With good road and rail links (Paris/Strasbourg autoroute and TGV Est) and close to the borders with Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany, Verdun is well-placed to ensure its economic development. The town, famous for its dragees, and its surroundings area have many sites, memorials and discovery centres like the World Centre for Peace, to make sure we « never forget ».
