Le Montheil is a small, flower-filled hamlet overlooking the Monts d'Ambazac, with uninterrupted views over the green, wooded countryside. The house next to Jennie and Peter's comprises 2 gîtes. It's an ideal base for exploring the hiking trails of the Monts d'Ambazac.
The Beekeepers' Chalet: The entrance is on the garden side, leading to a kitchenette and then a living room with a wood-burning stove. Upstairs: 1 bedroom (1 double bed), bathroom with toilet. Wood heating. About 20 m away is a very large, fully enclosed lawn (2,500 m²). It is shared with the second holiday cottage (sleeps 6), Peter and Jennie, the cat, the dogs, the family’s horses, and the chickens. If you are staying with your pet, it must be kept on a leash. A small patio is also accessible from outside. Parking is available on the property. TV with English and French channels. The owners make their washing machine, located in a locked room, available to guests of both holiday cottages upon request. It is also possible to use part of the freezer space, but please check with the owner before purchasing food.

Rfawag Wonderful stay!
Peter and Jennie are wonderful hosts, warm, welcoming and full of local knowledge. They are prepared to chat when wanted, but are not intrusive at all and fully respect guests privacy.
The gite was lovely, a perfect nest for two. Clean, cosy, comfortable and sympathetically furnished it has everything one could need. Linens/ tea/coffee/cleaning essentials etc are provided and there is a lovely welcome pack (fresh eggs/apple juice/preserves/wine) to greet you.
The gite is in a truly beautiful location but still close to supermarkets/restaurants/A20, so you have the best of all worlds. It's so peaceful surrounded by nature with just birdsong and the breeze to break the silence.
There are a few animals, sheep/chickens/friendly dogs/cat. We are animal lovers so enjoyed playing with the dogs, but the hosts understand that not everyone is ok with animals. They are quite prepared to keep them away if the guests so wish. Although there are chickens we didn't hear a cockerel at the crack of dawn, so enjoyed peaceful sleep.
We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful place with professional hosts, and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who wants a relaxing break in the countryside. We will certainly book again when we return to the area next spring. Thank you Peter and Jennie, we'll see you next time!
