Rouen is well-known for its fine restaurants, so enjoy the wide variety of regional dishes made from cheese, apples and cider as well as local specialities like « canard à la rouennaise (Duck Rouen-style) » and Douillon d’Elbeuf, a type of apple puff.

The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen houses a rich collection of works and Impressionist paintings including one of the famous « Cathédrale de Rouen » series painted by Claude Monet. Inspired by the ever-changing daylight, just like many other Impressionist painters, he painted around 30 pictures of the cathedral during his time in Rouen.

Joan of Arc is an iconic figure who marked the city’s history. The Historial Jeanne d’Arc recreates the heroine’s life story using projections, reconstitutions and audio-visual effects – an amazing feat of technology and innovation. A unique immersive experience at the heart of the 15th century !

The Panorama XXL – a unique cultural centre in France

It is difficult to miss this gigantic circular building on the banks of the Seine. Yet the Panorama XXL by the artist Yadegar Asisi is not out of place in the landscape of modern-day Rouen. On the contrary, this avant-garde 30m high symbol is an invitation to view one of the largest 360° frescoes in the world which is strikingly realistic.
