Megève is a typical village of Haute Savoie which will definitely leave you with a lasting impression. Nestled at the heart of the Pays du Mont Blanc (near Chamonix), in a magnificent setting, steeped in extraordinary history and heritage, Megève is far-removed from a stereotype resort. An ambassador for local gastronomy revisited by Michelin-starred chefs, it is a marvellous destination at any time of year with everyday local life punctuated by cultural and sporting events. Megève has the charm of a thriving mountain village with a long history, centred round its main medieval square with narrow streets, tiny squares enhanced with fountains and wash pools.

The charm of the village is unquestionable and so is the beautiful scenery which surrounds it. Bordered by three mountain ranges with gentle slopes and leafy forests, Megève is a land of natural contrasts to delight nature lovers.

The Cirque de la Cote 2000 and Aiguilles Croches just above the village add to the sense of a preserved, unspoilt, natural landscape which can be enjoyed at any time of year.

Megève also reflects the charm and elegance of a prestigious ski resort against the backdrop of Mont Blanc. It is a genuine Savoie village with a rich history and wonderful inhabitants. The Megève ski area, between 1,113m and 2,350m altitude, includes Combloux, Jaillet-Christomet, La Giettaz, Cordon, Saint-Gervais and Saint-Nicolas : 83 ski lifts, 173 pistes totalling 325km and 33km of superb trails for classic cross-country skiing or ski skating.

The ski area covers several mountains and is a combination of ski slopes, forests, alpine farms and sunny terraces offering winter sports for all.

Families will appreciate the gentle beginners’ slopes for youngsters. Lovers of wide-open spaces can make the most of the slopes of Cote 2000 which has excellent quality snow due to its exceptional orientation. Freestyle enthusiasts have a special zone to jump in total safety onto a giant air cushion. As you will have realised by now, Megève is a skier’s paradise ! The Evasion Mont Blanc ski area which includes Mégève has 235 pistes totalling 400km.

Megève is as traditional as it is sporty and skilfully brings together different styles and cultures. Everyday life revolves around the seasons which are punctuated by major sporting and cultural events including international ski competitions, snow polo tournaments, international show-jumping and mountain-biking.

Apart from its scenery, history and skiing, Megève is also one of the finest ambassadors of mountain gastronomy.

The 45 farms and local producers set the tone in a village which has always sought excellence in its products and which has attracted generations of young, innovative, talented chefs for over a century. Its 89 restaurants, including 3 Michelin-starred ones, offer a superb palette of dishes to tickle your taste buds.

Chefs highlight local sustainable produce ranging from meat from the Megève abattoir and herbs and plants which are found in the mountains.
