The Opal Coast

With its oceanic climate, the Côte d'Opale offers a constant climate all year round, with mild winters and cool summers, and a low temperature range, making it an ideal place for walking and Hiking all year round, especially in the nature reserves of the Canche and Authie bays.

Dozens of seaside resorts dot the Côte d'Opale, the most famous of which is undoubtedly Le Touquet-Paris Beach, the French seaside resort with the most buildings protected as historic monuments. Nicknamed the "Pearl of the Côte d'Opale", the "Garden of the English Channel" or the "Resort of the Four Seasons", this seaside resort offers holidaymakers the chance to enjoy all kinds of beach and outdoor activities, from Hiking to Water sports and relaxation.

A little further north, Boulogne-sur-Mer is not only the capital of the Côte d'Opale, but also France's leading fishing port. Lovers of seafood-based gastronomy will be delighted by typical dishes such as kippers or rollmops, mackerel in white wine or the mussels traditionally served with French fries throughout the region. Also in Boulogne, the Nausicaa center is the region's most visited tourist site. It's not just a remarkable aquarium, but also a marine environment discovery center offering tours and activities for all ages.
