Located on the former mining site of Carreau Wendel, Parc Explor Wendel is the symbol and preserved witness to the history of the Lorraine coalfield, where industrial coal mining began in Petite-Rosselle in 1856 and ceased in Creutzwald in 2004. The hundred hectares or so of greenery now lend themselves to Hiking or cycling, and to discovering the life and work of the miner.
