A welcoming nature
Mont des Avaloirs
At an altitude of 416.23 metres, Mont des Avaloirs is the highest point in western France. The 108 steps of its belvedere take in a 360° panorama. From the terrace, 18 m above the ground, you can observe the landscape for up to 100 km around, taking in an exceptional view of the Normandie-Maine Regional Nature Park, the Forest de Multonne and the Alpes Mancelles. You might even be visited by the Harrier Saint Martin before you go hunting for campagnole..

Sweet vacations!
Mayenne Valley
From its source at the foot of Mont des Avaloirs (the highest point in western France), the river is fed by numerous streams and rivers. It crosses the department from north to south, joining the Loire south of Angers after merging with the Sarthe river. From Mayenne to Angers, it was made navigable in the 19th century by the creation of dams andlocks.

A fisherman's paradise
Mayenne, a welcoming land for fishermen
The people of Mayenne are fishermen at heart, and what's more, they welcome anglers from elsewhere as friends! There are no secret fishing spots here, and there's a real sense of conviviality, even solidarity, along the waterways and around the ponds. Under the aegis of the departmental fishing and fish farming federation, numerous local fishing associations ensure that the many rivers and lakes in the region are of the highest quality, and maintain this friendly atmosphere.
