A superb nautical baseLake du Der-Chantecoq
The 4800-hectare Lake du Der-Chantecoq is one of the largest man-made lakes in Europe. One of the Seine' s reservoirs, it was designed to protect Paris from flooding. Its name refers to one of the three villages that were swallowed up when it was created in 1960: Chantecoq, Champaubert-aux-Bois, and Nuisement-aux-Bois, but also to the surrounding oak forests (whose Gallic name is "dervos"). It is located in two départements, Marne and Haute-Marne.

At the gateway to ChampagneArgonne, a land of remembrance
Forest and nature ... the Argonne forest stretches for almost 25km. It is branded by deep ravines and narrow valleys. It is home to a rich fauna of wild boar, deer, foxes, roe deer, birds of prey and other bird species such as the heron. In autumn, you can be surprised by the bellowing of the stag, but beware: the Forest has remained relatively wild.
