Lac de Vassivière
With more than 1,000 hectares, Vassivière is one of the largest lakes in France. As a family, enjoy water sports, with the rental of paddles and pedal boats, join the sailing club, embark on a canoe trip or a cruise to the island of Vassivière.
Lake Vassivière, located northwest of the Millevaches plateau, is the largest body of water in Limousin. Planted in a thick forest between the departments of Creuse and Haute-Vienne, the lake takes on the appearance of Canada with its islands, peninsulas and forest landscapes.
The Vassivière dam was built to close several valleys which meet at the same point. Its clear and limpid waters, emerging from the bowels of the Plateau de Millevaches, offer a multitude of adventures on the water: canoeing, sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, wake-boarding. On the shore, 30 kilometers of marked trails allow you to discover, on foot or by bike, the woods and the moors.
The lake is lively all year round with storytelling festivals, concerts and fireworks. Through its timeless landscapes, you will discover spaces preserved as far as the eye can see where hiking, mountain biking or even horseback riding on the riverbank trails has so many treasures in store for you that take you on an unusual and authentic adventure!
