Although the village of Crots may not seem to have much to offer at first glance—other than a peaceful setting and the perfect, dry, and sunny climate of the Hautes-Alpes—it nevertheless boasts two wonders within its borders: a castle, built by the lords of Embrun in the 12th century—originally a simple wooden keep—the Château de Picomtal was subsequently expanded and remodeled over the centuries, culminating in the Louisiana-style veranda added in the 19th century; Boscodon Abbey, a 12th-century Romanesque building designated a historic monument; both of these marvels are must-see attractions. Rich in forests and pastures, the town is located on the outskirts of the Ecrins National Park; the heart of the park is a special protection area for bird conservation as part of the Natura 2000 network. It is near these remarkable sites that you will stay in this magnificent detached Chalet, set on private grounds with a breathtaking view of Lake Serre-Ponçon and the surrounding mountain ranges. This spacious holiday cottage is laid out over two levels: on the ground floor, there is a large living area with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and spacious sitting area, all designed to blend modern style with a mountain ambiance. There is also a separate restroom and a laundry room. Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms, including 2 very spacious ones with 2 double beds (Bed 160 x 200 cm) (one of the bedrooms has a TV) and 4 single beds, including 2 bunk beds, as well as a bathroom with a toilet, shower, and bathtub. Electric heating supplemented by a wood-burning stove (wood provided). Washing machine, dishwasher, freezer, flat-screen TV... Bed linen and towels provided; bathroom linen available for rent; optional housekeeping service; storage shed for equipment or vehicles. Baby gear. From the living area, you have direct access to a large west-facing terrace and a landscaped yard equipped with patio furniture, lounge chairs, and a barbecue so you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the location. From the holiday cottage, numerous hiking trails await you, allowing you to take in the scenery under a clear blue sky. There’s also a rock-climbing site just a few kilometers away, as well as winter sports at the three nearby resorts—Les Orres, Crévoux, and Réallon—which offer Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, and more.
