This guest house is a former convent that has been altered by time and its various uses: school, fruit and vegetable warehouse... After 3 years of restoration work, it has been totally restored by its owners under the watchful eye of the Architectes des Bâtiments de France and the Fondation du Patrimoine, saving it from ruin and restoring it to its former charm.
In the charming village of Barbentane, at the foot of the Montagnette massif with its walks and the Saint Michel de Frigolet abbey, come and experience the heart of Provence!
Between Avignon, the Alpilles Natural Park and its charming villages (Saint Rémy de Provence, les Baux, Eygalières, Maussanes les Alpilles...), Arles and Uzès, Le Couvent de Barbentane welcomes you for a restful, discovering, sporting, cultural, heritage or gastronomic stay!
The house features a landscaped Mediterranean garden, a 12x4 saltwater swimming pool open from 8am to 10pm, a large terrace and a summer kitchen in the shade of the pergola.
On the second floor, access via a beautiful stone spiral staircase:
- Entrance hall
- La Chambre des Observantins: double room with twin 90x200 beds, dressing area, separate toilet and bathroom with walk-in shower and heated towel rail.
- La Montagnette: family room with entrance hall leading to a double bedroom with a 180x200 double bed and wardrobe, a children's double bedroom with twin 90x190 beds and wardrobe, a bathroom with walk-in shower, double washbasin and heated towel rail, and a separate toilet.
Breakfast, with local and seasonal products, can be served on the terrace, in the cloister or inside the house.
Private parking on the property.
On request at least 48 hours in advance:
- transfer to Avignon TGV station (10 mn) or Avignon center (20 mn)
- baby equipment
- packed lunch for excursions

Bertrand Un Séjour parfait en tous points
J'ai mis une note maximale tout simplement parce que notre séjour était parfait.
Un accueil très sympathique, un lieu très bien situé pour visiter la région très riche, que ce soit au niveau des paysages somptueux que des beautés culturelles.
Sophie et Olivier sont des hôtes délicieux qui ne sont pas avares en conseils judicieux et éclairés.
En outre, ils nous fait visiter les bâtiments, un ancien couvent qui menaçait ruine et qu'ils ont merveilleusement restauré tout en nous expliquant son histoire passionnante.
Nous conseillons cet hébergement sans restriction aucune.

Pierre et Sheila Séjour parfait dans un joli village
Nous avons passé un excellent séjour chez Sophie et Olivier. La restauration du couvent est remarquable : un bel équilibre entre charme ancien et confort moderne. Chaque détail est soigné, et l’ensemble respire la sérénité.
Notre chambre était spacieuse, très confortable, avec un lit douillet qui invite au repos. Les petits-déjeuners étaient généreux, frais et savoureux. Nous avons eu la chance de profiter d’une table d’hôte où la cuisine de Sophie, délicieuse et authentique, mettait en valeur les produits locaux.
C’est un point de départ idéal pour découvrir la région. Barbentane est un village plein de charme, et le couvent, une belle surprise.

Vincent Remarkable Experience at Couvent de Barbentane
Our stay at the Couvent de Barbentane was exceptional. The place is full of history and charm, with authentic details beautifully preserved while offering all the modern amenities we could wish for. The atmosphere is peaceful, inspiring and sophisticated.
The hosts were wonderful: warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. Breakfast was a delight every morning.
The location couldn’t be better: Barbentane itself is a beautiful and quiet village, yet just moments away from Avignon, the TGV station, and many of Provence’s most enchanting sights.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay. We recommend it highly!
