In the resort, beautiful unobstructed views of the surrounding mountains, fireplace with insert... in short, all the ingredients for a 100% mountain holiday. Chalet Saint Jean is located on the heights of the Valberg resort and comprises two Gîtes (2153 and 2155) for a total capacity of 10 people, plus the owner's home. Ideal for families or groups of friends, you can reserve both gîtes for your own privacy.
Just 1 hour 30 from the Côte d'Azur, Valberg is a winter and summer sports resort offering all the leisure activities and services of the mountains. Discover the Mercantour National Park and the Southern Alps from the many signposted hiking and mountain-biking trails nearby. Golf in summer. Circuit of the red gorges of the Cians and Daluis rivers.

Nice unit, bring your own TP
4/5We booked this based on the recommendation of a friend. We had mistakenly assumed that it was a full house, not multiple apartments, and booked the middle level apartment (4 bedrooms) instead of the lower unit (2 bedrooms). The lower unit has a much nicer terrace, is more private, better layout, and better view. The lower unit also has a parking space; we had to park in the public lot across the street. However, the inside of this unit was well furnished and in a very good state (recently upgraded kitchen, etc). The kitchen was equipped with all needed utensils.
Before we came, we knew there would be no linens, towels, etc; so, we brought our own since we live locally. But, if you are not traveling by car, can be an issue.
We were disappointed that there were 0 basic provisions - no toilet paper, no paper towels, no dishwasher tablets, no cleaning supplies (other than a small bottle of dish soap and a sponge for the kitchen sink). The BBQ is a very small charcoal grill (no charcoal or starter supplied); a gas grill would be nice.
Also, on arrival the owner gave us a list of every non-attached item in the unit, that we had to verify and sign. I don't know if this is typical at all gites, but it gives the impression that they think we are going to steal their stuff. (We were also expecting the owner to go thru and count every plate, knife, fork etc before we could leave; but fortunately, she did not.)
Before we departed, we were told we had to clean the unit, or pay 50 Euros to have it cleaned (The fee is mentioned in the listing, but we overlooked it). We always clean rentals we stay in to the best of our ability, so we agreed to clean it. But keep in mind there were no cleaning supplies (except a mop and a vacuum).
I would recommend this rental, as long as you are OK with the lack of provisions (but would also recommend getting the lower unit unless you need 4 bedrooms).

The check-in and check-out inventory are made in each Gîte.
