Laura A Wonderful renovated French stone cottage full of charm
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Marienne. The owner Chantal, who lives on site in an attached dwelling, was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The comprehensive laundry facilities (washer, dryer and clothes horse) were excellent and the kitchen was well equipped with modern appliances. The whole gîte was very peaceful and the gardens well tended. We came home feeling thoroughly refreshed. Despite the rural feel, the local village Benet is an easy 4 minute drive away with well-stocked supermarket, two bakeries, Sunday morning market. I also highly recommend the local town Niort which is a 15-20 minute drive away. Fantastic Thursday market, great selection of boutiques, cafés and bars.
