Treat yourself to a timeless getaway in the heart of Trizay Abbey, the first Cistercian abbey in Lower Poitou, founded in the 12th century. Classified as a 3-star tourist rental, this charming holiday cottage accommodates up to 10 people in an exceptional setting where heritage, nature, and comfort come together. Ideally located in the heart of the Vendée, it serves as a prime starting point for exploring the William Christie Gardens (11 km), the beaches of the Vendée (33 km), the Priory of Grammont (25 km), Maillezais Abbey (46 km), the Marais Poitevin (53 km), and Puy du Fou (60 km).

The holiday cottage, fully renovated and certified as a 3-star tourist rental, is housed in the former residence of Trizay Abbey. It accommodates up to 10 people in a unique setting where the charm of stone, modern comfort, and nearly nine centuries of history come together.

On the ground floor (accessed via two steps), you’ll find a spacious, light-filled living area featuring a cozy living room, a dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen. A laundry room with a washer and dryer, as well as a separate restroom, complete this level.

Upstairs, the holiday cottage features three bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom and toilet:

- two bedrooms with a 140 × 190 cm double bed;
- a large family bedroom featuring a 160 × 200 cm bed, two 90 × 190 cm pull-out beds (which can be joined to form a double bed), and a 140 × 190 cm sofa bed.

Outside, enjoy a private south-facing courtyard furnished with patio furniture, lounge chairs, and a barbecue—ideal for sharing a meal, reading in the sun, or simply savoring the exceptional tranquility of the surroundings.

Your stay also grants you access to the cloister, the 3-hectare wooded park bordering the Lay River, as well as the former abbey church and the chapter house. The outdoor areas are accessible to visitors only during the day. During the summer, guided tours are organized in the historic areas, without ever entering your accommodations, which remain entirely private. In the evening, the cloister regains its tranquility, and you can fully enjoy its unique atmosphere.

When you stay at Trizay Abbey, you’re experiencing much more than just a stay in a holiday cottage: you’ll discover a place steeped in nearly 900 years of history, painstakingly restored by its owners, in the heart of a preserved natural setting where heritage, serenity, and authenticity come together to offer an unforgettable experience.

The ground floor of the holiday cottage is adjacent to a separate 60 m² reception and seminar room, which does not encroach on your living space. This room can also be rented in addition to your stay, upon request, for hosting a birthday party, family gathering, or private event.

Heating, bed linens (beds made on arrival), and household linens are included in the price of your stay.
