The former 19th-century Presbytery, restored in 2002, offers an authentic setting. Right in the heart of the Erve valley, at the foot of the canyon and the Saulges caves, you'll be charmed by a village classified as a "Petite cité de caractère", bordered by the Erve river (fishing possible from March to September for the 1st category and all year round for the 2nd), offering an undulating environment. The village is warm and welcoming, with its restored stone houses, the river, the Cèdre bakery (organic bread baked over a wood fire) and its seasonal bar. Discover the works of art scattered around the village, on the houses.... The Holiday cottage is self-contained, with a large enclosed garden close to the church. You'll appreciate the large living rooms, ideal for spending time with family and friends: dining room 18m², small lounge 10m² ..which can be opened to enlarge the 2nd lounge 18m². From Saint Pierre, numerous Hiking trails criss-cross the Countryside, and along the Erve river you can reach the Saulges caves, a prehistoric site, an exceptional natural setting, rock climbing and Restaurant on site. You're in the Coëvrons, Pays d'arts et d'histoire, a remarkable natural and heritage area, where you can explore the Petites cités de caractères of Saulges and Sainte Suzanne (also France's most beautiful village), 40 signposted hiking trails. Step back in time with a visit to the Prehistory Museum, the Roman town of Jublains, the Evron Basilica, the castle and the medieval city of Sainte Suzanne. Kate Quiet & spacious, in a community focused village
Three generations, with ages from 3 to 75, and a dog enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing week in the spacious Presbyterian. The beds were comfortable and the rooms quiet and dark. The house and garden offered plenty of space and we found everything we needed in the kitchen and dresser.
Morning walks exploring the village art installations, Were followed by games on the lawn and quiet evenings bat spotting. We delighted in the knowledge that the forward thinking village own this marvellous gite, ensuring our rental money is invested into maintaining and improving this beautiful petite citie of character. Locally we also enjoyed the mill and caves (pleasant walk along the river to get there), beer and ice-cream from the community bistro, the other villages of character and the bar at Souers for €11 pancake night. August was a quiet month with lots of villages and towns very quiet but St Pierre maintains a sense of real community thanks to a committed mayor and residents.
