Le Prieuré de Saint Georges

In the heart of the Loire Anjou Touraine regional nature park, 30 minutes from Saumur and 45 minutes from Angers, Le Prieuré de Saint George is a former dependency of the Abbey of St Florent de Saumur, which no longer exists. Established in the 11th century, this beautiful building will let you discover its fine stonework during a stay for two. The former priory, located behind the church, boasts magnificent gardens covering almost 6,000m². Let yourself be carried away by the peaceful atmosphere. Admire the many roses, the herb garden and the hedge-lined paths. Remarkable gardens in which to walk, relax and meditate... Each room has its own private entrance with separate toilet and bathroom with bath and vanity unit. A stone staircase takes you upstairs to the 33 m² bedroom. New bedding with two 90 x 200cm beds, small sitting area with courtesy tray, shelf, large bench and storage space. The Doué la Fontaine Biopark is 8 minutes away. Troglodytes: these underground caves dug into the falun rock are very well represented in the region: the troglodyte village of Louresse Rochemenier, Les Mystères du Falun, Troglodytes et Sarcophages. Doué La Fontaine's rose-growing region offers a wide range of varieties. The banks of the Loire are 25 minutes away. For lovers of castles and historic monuments, there's a wide choice within a 40km radius: Brissac-Quincé, Montreuil-Bellay, Saumur, Montsoreau, Brézé and, of course, Fontevraud Abbey... Breakfast is included and can be served indoors or outdoors, weather permitting. Homemade jams, fresh eggs, cheeses, homemade pastries, pastries, dairy products, fresh fruit and juices. Local shops: supermarket with bread depot 200m away, butcher's and delicatessen 100m away. The Doué La Fontaine Super U is 7km away. The Bed and breakfast is not recommended for people with reduced mobility, for whom the ground-floor sanitary facilities could be a problem.
