South Tarn Gites - Martinet

In the Pays de Cocagne region, just a few minutes from Lautrec, one of the "most beautiful villages in France", famous for its old mill and its AOC pink garlic.

This is the land of good living, gastronomy, soothingly colorful Countryside and lively markets (Castres on Saturdays and, above all, the unmissable Réalmont market on Wednesday mornings). The bravest can get there on foot or by bike along the greenway.

Ideally located in the center of the Tarn, you'll discover Castres (Berges de l'Agout, Musée Goya) and Albi, whose historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you'll find the Toulouse-Lautrec museum housed in the Palais de la Berbie, and Europe's largest red-brick cathedral, the 13th-century Sainte-Cécile. A must-see!

The Vineyard of Gaillac is well worth a visit, and in summer you can meet the winemakers at one of the many aperitif concerts. The Sidobre massif and its magical, surprisingly shaped rocks will whet your imagination, and young and old alike will be charmed by the legends of the Forest.

History buffs will be delighted by the cobbled streets of the medieval town of Cordes-sur-Ciel, or by reliving the Cathar epic (Musée du Catharisme in Mazamet, Hautpoul accessible via an impressive Nepalese footbridge) all the way to the Cité de Carcassonne, on the other side of the Mountain Noire.
