Paraza, a charming village in the Aude department nestled on the banks of the Canal du Midi, is a delightful place to visit for its authenticity and heritage. Its landmark, the Répudre canal-bridge, is the oldest navigable canal-bridge in the world, built in 1676 by Pierre-Paul Riquet.
The village offers heritage tours: "À la conquête de l'eau" and "Au fil du vieux Paraza", as well as an immersive escape game in the footsteps of Riquet. Every Friday from May to October, the Port Market brings together local producers, craftsmen and designers.
The surrounding area is ideal for cycling or walking along the canal, river cruises, Hiking in the vineyards, or cultural visits to sites such as Fontfroide Abbey or the village of Minerve . Paraza is an ideal destination for combining relaxation, culture and local delights.
Less than 40 minutes from Paraza, the beaches of Gruissan, Narbonne-Beach and Saint-Pierre-la-Mer offer vast stretches of fine sand, ideal for swimming, water sports and family relaxation.
