L'Horto

Located on the banks of the Aude River, just a stone's throw from the historic center of Carcassonne, L'Horto is the perfect holiday cottage to stay in Carcassonne, whether for a short or long visit to the medieval city.

L'Horto is a former family-run vegetable farm acquired around 1920.

Its location is ideal for exploring Carcassonne on foot: the Canal du Midi, the Cité de Carcassonne, the Bastide Saint-Louis (the heart of the city), with all its shops and activities, as well as the banks of the Aude River for lovely walks or bike rides. To cool off during the warmer months, a water park with a Piscine and spa area is just a 3-minute walk away.

There are many attractions nearby: the Mountain Noire, where you can explore the Canal du Midi’s ingenious water supply system; the book village of Montolieu; Castelnaudary and its cassoulet; Limoux and its sparkling wines, the Cathar castles such as Saissac and Lastours, the dinosaur museum in Espéraza, the Sea is less than an hour away, and the Corbières and Minervois regions are nearby.

You’ll enjoy a getaway in the Countryside while still being in Carcassonne. The 4,000 m² wooded garden is open to you, where you’ll find sheep, chickens, miniature pigs, dogs, and cats. A private terrace is at your disposal, complete with patio furniture and a plancha grill, so you can fully enjoy your meals or relax after a day of sightseeing. The property is fenced with an electric remote-controlled gate; parking is available in front of your holiday cottage in the courtyard, and the farm’s former pigsty serves as a bike storage area if needed.

The holiday cottage features double-glazed windows and has individual air conditioning in each of the two bedrooms; the ground-floor rooms are equipped with fans.
You enter through a veranda; a separate restroom is located right next to it.
- Ground floor: a living room with a dining table, a sitting area with a sofa, armchairs, and a TV. A separate, fully equipped kitchen.
- Upstairs: two bedrooms furnished in “1930s” and “1970s” styles, each with a TV and a 140-size bed for 2x2 people, and a separate shared bathroom (shower, sink, and toilet).
Your pets are welcome and must get along with ours.
