L'Horto

On the banks of the River Aude, just a stone's throw from Carcassonne's historic center, L'Horto is the ideal holiday cottage for a short or long stay in the medieval City of Carcassonne!

L'Horto is a former family-run market garden acquired around 1920.

Its location is ideal for visiting Carcassonne on foot: Canal du Midi, Cité de Carcassonne, Bastide Saint-Louis (heart of the City), with all its shops and entertainment, as well as the banks of the River Aude for lovely walks and bike rides. To cool off in summer, an aqualudic complex with swimming pool and balneotherapy area is just a 3-minute walk away.

There are many attractions nearby: the Mountain Noire, where you can discover the Canal du Midi's ingenious water supply system, the book village of Montolieu, Castelnaudary and its cassoulet, Limoux and its sparkling wines, the castles of Cathar country such as Saissac and Lastours, the dinosaur museum at Esperaza, the Sea is less than an hour away, and Corbières and Minervois are close by.

You'll enjoy a "Countryside" stay in the heart of Carcassonne. The 4000 m² wooded garden is open to you, with sheep, chickens, miniature pigs, dogs and cats. A private terrace with garden furniture and plancha is at your disposal, so you can enjoy your meals or relax after a day of sightseeing. The property is fenced with an electric gate, parking is available in front of the Holiday cottage in the courtyard, and the farm's former pigsty is your bike room if required.

The stone-built, double-glazed Holiday cottage has no air-conditioning, but the rooms are equipped with fans.
The entrance is via a veranda, with a separate toilet next door.
- First floor: living room with dining table, sitting area with sofa, armchairs and TV. A fully-equipped independent kitchen.
- Upstairs: two bedrooms, furnished in 1930s and 1970s style, with TV and double bed (140cm) for 2x2 people, and an independent shared bathroom (shower, washbasin and WC).
Your pets are welcome and must live with ours.
