Just a few minutes from Carcassonne, in the wine-growing village of Pennautier, L'Échappée Vigneronne invites you to discover the Cabardès region in a whole new way, amidst vineyards, heritage sites, and nature. You’re ideally situated to explore the famous Cité de Carcassonne, stroll along the Canal du Midi, or visit Montolieu, the village of books and the arts. The nearby Montagne Noire also offers wonderful hiking opportunities, with its forests and caves, while the surrounding wineries immerse you in the authenticity of Cabardès wines.
This unusual stay takes place on an estate where the owners, who live on-site, share their passion for wine and offer you an original immersion in a calm and natural environment. You’ll stay in a converted wine barrel, designed for a couple’s getaway, close to nature while maintaining essential comforts.
Each accommodation is on one level and features a cozy sleeping area with a 140x190 cm bed. The four barrels are named after iconic grape varieties, creating an intimate atmosphere that aligns with the estate’s winemaking identity:

Chardonnay with a 140x190 cm bed
Pinot with a 140x190 cm bed
Grenache with a 140x190 cm bed
Merlot with a 140x190 cm bed

The restroom facilities are located about 25 meters from the barrels and include two individual showers, two separate toilets, and a bathroom with a toilet. A microwave is available for reheating your meals, as well as a washing machine.
Outside, you can enjoy a shared garden surrounded by nature, with each barrel having its own private patio set so you can fully savor moments of relaxation. A terrace completes the space for your meals or moments of rest.
