Gite de Vacquey

You’ll stay in the former 18th-century chapel, a detached building on private grounds surrounded by 1.5 hectares of land, with a view of a 6-hectare landscaped park. You can visit Château Vacquey, built in the 18th century by Victor Louis, the architect of the Grand Theater of Bordeaux. Admire its magnificent view overlooking the park and its trees, which are over a century old. The Château, set back from the main grounds, now houses a retirement home and was owned by Gustave Eiffel in the 19th century, when he came to oversee the construction of the two bridges over the Dordogne River in Saint-André-de-Cubzac; at which time he added a first floor and a gazebo to this former Carthusian monastery to create his office. The Teynac Golf Course and its Restaurant are 5 km away, with introductory lessons available. Tennis courts are 2 km away.
The “Chapelle” holiday cottage welcomes you to an authentic setting, furnished with antique pieces and featuring a fireplace insert for cozy evenings.
On the south side, enjoy a beautiful terrace shaded by a canopy, perfect for al fresco dining. Six adult bicycles are also available free of charge upon request from the owner for exploring the surrounding area.
Inside, you’ll find a functional kitchen open to a living/dining area, a pleasant indoor patio, and three bedrooms (one with a 160-cm bed, one with a 140-cm bed, and two with 90-cm beds). The bathroom is equipped with a walk-in shower, and the wall-mounted toilet is separate. There is a pétanque court on the property. During the high season (July, August, and September), electricity is included.
The holiday cottage has city gas central heating. Optional: rental of sheets, bath towels, and kitchen linens. End-of-stay cleaning is available (€30/hour), but the holiday cottage must be left clean in any case.
