A City of Art and History, the small town of Coutances boasts a remarkable cathedral worthy of the greatest cities. At the foot of its two spires, life is good in this dynamic City, which comes alive every May for its famous Jazz Festival. On one of the surrounding hills, surrounded by nature, the chateau de la mare estate is a peaceful haven of greenery. The owner regularly opens the gates of the estate on the occasion of the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days). Several articles and reports have been produced on these occasions.

A fully renovated former farmhouse and the remains of a 17th-century château provide the perfect setting for a relaxing stopover. Built in the past by Jean-Jacques QUESNEL de la Morinière, a wealthy bourgeois from COUTANCES to whom we owe other buildings in the City, it was inspired by the architecture of the Saline Royale d'Arc et Senans. A history buff, Jacques will tell you all about the major stages in the history of this place (from ancient Rome to the present day) and the work carried out to create this perfectly balanced residence. Once you've passed the entrance hall, the owner offers you a magnificent, light-filled lounge (TV, internet) where you can enjoy a hearty breakfast. The bedroom adjoining your living room is on the garden level, overlooking the Countryside. The bathroom is spacious and organized in the bedroom, with shower and bath.
