Ed Eringa Nice house with beautiful garden
Nice house in the historical Somme region, which also has beautiful nature. The house is spacious, with a large garden (800 m2) with beautiful view of the church. When we stayed the property was partly under construction, so it will likely be better for future guests. A drawback of the house is that the area is not well equipped for tourists, there was no bakery in town when we stayed, swimming spots are a 40 minute drive away and the air smells bad from agricultural activities at night. The ground floor shower drain was also smelly, but this can easily be amended. On the plus side, there were excellent bakeries in villages nearby and with a list of locals’ tips for the area the house can be improved. Tip from us for guests is the delicacy shop at Péronne that has great cheeses and the famous Beurre Bordier, I know Dutch folks who drive up to this shop for this butter. The WWI musea were also impressive, as was the string of military cemeteries between Albert and Péronne.
