BROUCKERQUE (Flemish: KERQUE = church and BROUCK = marsh) is located in Flanders Maritime, in the center of the Dunkirk-Calais-Saint-Omer triangle.
The altitude is close to 0, the level of the nearby Sea du Nord.
This former polder in the delta of the River AA was drained and cultivated by the monks of the Abbey of St-Omer over 1000 years ago.
The area is criss-crossed by canals, watergangs and ditches created to drain the land. Anne-France and Georges' 2 Holiday cottages are located at the junction of 2 watergangs, in an old Flemish farmhouse dating from 1764.
The land is used for mixed farming: wheat, sugar beet, textile flax and canned peas, beans...

The commune is criss-crossed by three fish-filled canals where fishing is permitted. The main North Sea beaches are 10km away.
Bergues is 8 km away, Dunkirk 15 km, the Audomarois marshlands 20 km, Calais and Cassel 25 km.
