Your wish has finally come true in this superb 14th-century tower! You'll love the unusual charm of this residence in the heart of a village surrounded by meadows and hedged farmland.

Close to the Parc Naturel Régional de l'Avesnois, offering opportunities for hiking, biking and nature exploration. The region boasts several fortified churches. A tour of these buildings can provide a fascinating insight into the region's architectural and defensive history.
The gîte is 15 km from Hirson, 47 km from Charleville-Mézières, 53 km from the Familistère de Guise, 70 km from Laon (Paris 2024 preparation center) and 75 km from Saint-Quentin (Paris 2024 rear base).

This fully-renovated, two-storey, 57 m² tower dating from the 14th century is located in the heart of the village.

The 270 m² private enclosed grounds include a garden adjoining the gîte and a second garden below, with a courtyard and parking space.

First floor: Living room: kitchen/dining room. Fireplace with insert.
1st floor: 1 living/bedroom with Modulo sofa bed for 2 (140x190), shower room with WC.
2nd floor: 1 bedroom with 3 single beds (90x190), 1 of which is a sofa-bed.

Utilities not included. Electric heating, wood for the fireplace and cleaning package included. Beds made up on arrival if linen hired.

Déjà dans ce gîte en avril 2010 ,avec 3 petits enfants (7,7,8) ,ce fut un plaisir de pouvoir revenir avec 2 autres petits enfants (11,12) ,il y a eu des améliorations,on voit qu'il y a le soucis de bien faire malgré la difficulté d'aménager dans une si belle tour ,en conservant son cachet. L’accueil toujours parfait ,sympathique et disponible .A découvrir ,la tour ,la très riche histoire d'Aubenton et la toute proche région ... Rocroi..Chimay Hirson ..Saint-Michel...source et chutes de l'Oise...églises fortifiées...fabriques de fromage,de cidre ....et J'en passe ... que de bons souvenirs,dans un cadre merveilleux !!!!!!

Amazing time in a lovely place

That was an amazing time in a lovely tower "Daniel"! Aubenton is a lovely little village where are only a bakery and a restaurant La Table de Maya (you need to book in advance as it is highly popular)! It was pure bliss to sit in the garden and glazing the stars in the evenings! Merci beaucoup!

Beautiful historic tower with modern facilities. Spacious and tastefully decorated. Aubenton is a lovely town with plenty of nice routes for hiking, as well as an excellent bakery and small supermarket for all holiday needs. It was wonderful!

Märchenhafte Zeit

Wir haben zwei wunderbare Wochen in diesem charmanten Turm genossen. Für zwei Personen ist es sehr bequem, für mehr könnte es etwas eng werden. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet, das WLAN funktioniert auch im Garten. Die Steckdose im Wohnzimmer müsste allerdings repariert werden und das Bad bedürfte einer Renovierung.
Im Schlafzimmer unter dem Dach gibt es ein Doppelbett mit komfortabler Matratze. (Die Fotos des Schlafzimmers sind veraltet, statt des Einzelbetts in der Mitte gibt es ein Doppelbett, flankiert von den beiden anderen Einzelbetten). Die Schränke sind mit Decken und Kissen gefüllt, so dass nicht sehr viel Stauraum übrig bleibt.
Der Empfang war überaus freundlich. Nur wenige 100 m vom Gîte entfernt gibt es eine Bäckerei, die auch Sonntagvormittag offen hat, ebenso wie der unwesentlich weiter entfernte Lebensmittelladen. (Montags ist dann allerdings geschlossen.) Im Gîte gibt es zahllose touristische Tipps, eine Entdeckung: Das Familistère in Guise. Die Gegend ist noch nicht überlaufen und empfiehlt sich für ambitionierte Radfahrer.

Nous avons passé deux semaines merveilleuses dans cette charmante tour. C'est très confortable pour deux personnes, mais c'est peut-être un peu à l'étroit pour plus. La cuisine est bien équipée, le WiFi fonctionne aussi dans le jardin. Cependant, la prise dans le salon a besoin de réparations et la salle de bain a besoin d'être rénovée.
Dans la chambre mansardée, il y a un lit double avec un matelas confortable. (Les photos de la chambre sont dépassées, à la place du lit simple au milieu il y a un lit double flanqué des deux autres lits simples). Les placards sont remplis de couvertures et d'oreillers, ce qui laisse peu d'espace de rangement.
L'accueil a été extrêmement sympathique. Il y a une boulangerie à quelques centaines de mètres du gîte, ouverte également le dimanche matin, ainsi que l'épicerie un peu plus loin. (Cependant, il est fermé le lundi.) Les bons plans touristiques ne manquent pas dans le gîte, une découverte : Le Familistère à Guise. La zone n'est pas encore surpeuplée et est recommandée pour les cyclistes ambitieux.

The tower constrains what they can offer so things such as the lounge is small and as comfortable as it can be. It is a little tired and could do with a revamp. Having said that the Mayor and his staff, it is owned by the town, could not be more helpful. It was only the two of us so it was fine. It could be uncomfortable with five. You are staying in a very old and historic building and it is a unique experience one we are glad we did.

It is an amazing feeling to stay in the tour, the energy is very special. I love the authenticity and the uniqueness of the place, the beautifull surroundings and the lovely people. I feel welcome whenever I visit the tour.
