Formerly a coal-mining site since 1862, the Wendel carreau in Petite-Rosselle, now known as the "Parc Explor Wendel", has become a leisure and cultural center for the whole family. The park features the Les Mineurs Wendel and La Mine Wendel museums, cycle paths and footpaths, as well as a wide range of year-round activities (cultural events, unusual tours, etc.). The only museum in France to offer 210m² of accommodation at its heart, our gîte "Une étape à la Mine" is close to major roads and the German border. The Völklinger Hütte World Cultural Heritage Site is just 10 minutes away, as is Forbach and its medieval Schlossberg castle. Sarreguemines, the city of earthenware par excellence, is only 30 minutes away, and Metz and its tourist attractions are only 50 minutes away. In winter, it's the perfect place to explore and discover Moselle's most beautiful Christmas markets.
