Mon Jardin Nourricier

Located in the former hayloft of our house, the gîte has its own entrance from our large vegetable garden. The 36 m² accommodation, ideal for 2 people, is equipped with everything you need to make your stay a pleasant one and make you feel right at home. Situated at an altitude of 850 m between the Markstein and Petit Ballon mountains in the Vosges, the apartment is close to forests and pastures, and has its feet in our large vegetable garden. You'll be ideally situated for resting or hiking! In season, you'll have a small vegetable patch at your disposal, where you can pick fresh vegetables from part of our garden. You'll be able to observe wild animals (deer, roe deer, foxes...) and also enjoy the presence of our own animals, such as chickens, dogs, cats, horses...

The dwelling is accessible from the courtyard via a landscaped path. You will enter the living room with a sofa bed (140x200cm), TV connected to the internet (Netflix, French channels) and a fully equipped open kitchen. There are a few basic products (oil, salt, spices...). Please note that the nearest grocery store is ten kilometers away, so be prepared, especially in winter. A wood-burning stove invites you to cosy up by the fire. The bathroom is also on the first floor, with a walk-in shower and dry toilet. As you'll see, dry toilets are easy to use and don't smell bad ;-). We'll take care of the handling (composting) and provide you with all the necessary utensils. The bedroom is on the Mezzanine bed, 140x190cm. Access is via a staircase with a ramp. The ceiling height in this attic bedroom is less comfortable for people over 1m90 tall.
In fine weather, you can enjoy a private outdoor area with table, chairs and Chiliennes in our vegetable garden. You're free to wander around the vegetable garden/garden, and it's a great opportunity to meet us!
Private parking for 1 vehicle. Bikes can be stored on site.
We're lucky enough to have Mountain farms close by, where you'll find local products such as Bargkass, Munster cheese and yoghurt...

In winter, special vehicle equipment (snow tires or chains) is mandatory. The 500m access road can sometimes be difficult to negotiate in winter, so we can pick you up at the top of the road with your luggage.

Please note that our Holiday cottage is not safe for young Kids, so you'll need to be vigilant (stairs, wood-burning stove, windowsills, cupboards... and outside, poisonous plants, animals).

Living in a preserved natural area, it's important for us to fit in as much as possible. This means, for example, using dry toilets, which, once composted, are returned to the garden. We have a phyto-purification system, which means we use only ecological cleaning and hygiene products. We grow our vegetables in our ecologically managed kitchen garden, using water sparingly, with no tillage and no chemical inputs. We limit light pollution by choosing not to include lights in outdoor areas (although a headlamp and flashlight are available). Water management is particularly important for us, as we collect our own water, which is stored, filtered and treated with UV lamps. We try to make our travellers aware of the need to use water wisely, and the practical steps they can take on a daily basis.
