The Marquisat de Vauban has been home to such illustrious figures as Marshal Sébastien Le Pestre Marquis de Vauban (18th century), who built the citadel, Lieutenant-Colonel Gossuet (19th century), a senior officer in Napoleon's great army who took part in the Russian Countryside, and General Frédéric-Georges Herr (20th century), commander-in-chief of the French artillery at Verdun (1916-1918).
The estate has undergone 3 years of complete renovation, with the aim of preserving and enhancing the heritage of this unique location. The building's interior and exterior decoration has been designed in the most refined style, with a choice of the finest materials, including marble and granite in the bathrooms and on the vanity tops, original solid oak parquet flooring, original sandstone flooring and framing stones, and antique Napoleon cobblestones in the courtyard.
Massive brass and copper basins by the prestigious JANDELLE Paris brand and associated precious metal fittings adorn the various bathrooms, which are equipped with the most modern fittings. Palace bedding by TRECA and SIMMONS brands and bed linen by renowned decorator Paule MARROT enhance the various bedrooms.
