L'Insolite Casemate

Here's the accommodation to match your adventures! Both a memorial site and a starting point for future discoveries, this casemate, built in 1915, is located between Sternenberg (500m) and Guevenatten, and boasts a beautiful panoramic view. On the edge of the forest and overlooking the D32V road, it's easy to get to.

The commune of Sternenberg has decided to transform it into an unusual stopover for cyclists, hikers or simply travelers looking for something original!

The casemate offers two bunk beds, a fold-down table, a gas stove and kitchen utensils. An additional cot with mattress is available for couples with a child. Pillows and pillowcases supplied, but please bring your own sheets or comforters.

Outside, a shelter and fences mark out your space. Furniture is at your disposal to enjoy the surroundings and rest after a day of hard work or sightseeing. A barbecue and the necessary wood are also provided to maintain a convivial fire for the end of the evening. For your water needs, a 30-liter reservoir is refilled daily by the town hall.

For sanitary facilities, dry toilets are available close to the accommodation. A public washroom with toilet and shower is located 1km from the village center.

The casemate is also the starting point for a remembrance trail comprising two 14 km loops.
Numerous hiking trails are available, as well as a nature interpretation trail. There is also a riding school in the commune. Further information is available directly from the town hall.
The first shops and restaurants are located between 1.5 km and 3 km from the accommodation. All shops 7 km away.
