Holiday cottage classification
Holiday cottages are self-catering, furnished tourist accommodations designed for short-term stays (weekends, weeks, etc.) for visitors who don't make their home there.
Gîtes de France® quality approval guarantees precise comfort standards (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 épis) and compliance with a national charter.
1 épi: Mini oven or rotisserie or grill, hob, pressure cooker, fridge, small electrical appliances (coffee maker, mixer, toaster, kettle), household utensils and basic cleaning products, high chair and baby bed on request, table linen, iron and ironing board, garden furniture*; one shower room and one WC for up to 6 people, two shower rooms and two WCs for 7 to 12 people, three shower rooms and three WCs for 13 to 15 people*.
2 épis: In addition to or instead of 1 épi: washing machine, microwave oven, TV, barbecue (except where prohibited by local law), optional linen rental and end-of-stay cleaning on request.
3 épis : In addition to or instead of 2 épis: independent access (terraced possible), private garden (or terrace) with garden furniture, private car parking space*, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer compartment, Internet access*, electric hair dryer.
4 épis: In addition to or in place of 3 épis: character or contemporary quality house, high-quality environment and decoration, food processor, electric tumble dryer, hi-fi equipment, DVD player, library, king-size bedding*, Beds made on arrival and bathroom linen supplied.
5 épis : In addition to or instead of 4 épis: detached house with private garden or private access in a complex of exceptional character, private landscaped park or garden, private car parking, provision of at least one leisure facility (swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, etc.), one shower room and one WC for up to 4 people, two shower rooms and two WCs for 5 to 8 people, three shower rooms and three WCs for 9 to 12 people, four shower rooms and four WCs for 13 to 15 people.

Group holiday cottage classification
The Group holiday cottages are designed to welcome individuals and groups (capacity between 15 and 100 people) for a stopover or a longer stay. It is equipped with living areas, sleeping accommodation in rooms or dormitories, and shared or private sanitary facilities, depending on the classification.

All Gîtes de France® Group holiday cottages are classified according to their environment, level of comfort and services, and reclassified at least once every 5 years.
Whatever the classification, some Holiday cottages offer additional facilities or services, as indicated in the description.
1 épi : living room, dining area, relaxation area or activity room, kitchen with sink, stove, oven, refrigerator, most sleeping accommodation in dormitories, 1 shower and 1 toilet for 10 people and 1 washbasin for 3 people, most shared sanitary facilities.
2 épis : in addition to or in place of 1 ear of corn: drying room, storeroom, sleeping accommodation in bedrooms and dormitories, 1 shower and 1 toilet for 8 people, shared sanitary facilities and some private facilities.
3 épis : in addition to or in place of 2 épis: landscaped or equipped grounds, library, board games, washing machine, TV, bed linen and towels on request, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, mostly sleeping accommodation in rooms for 2 to 4 people, 1 shower and 1 toilet for 6 people, mostly private bathroom facilities.
4 épis : in addition to or instead of 3 épis: unobstructed view of the countryside, leisure/wellbeing facilities, tumble dryer, Internet access, comfortable furniture, comfortable and harmonious lounge or relaxation area, 100% of rooms sleeping 2 to 4 people, full private bathroom facilities in each room
Bed and breakfast classification
Bed and breakfast is a room located in the owner's house or in an adjoining building. Bed and breakfast includes breakfast and overnight accommodation.

All Gîtes de France® Bed and breakfasts are classified according to the architectural quality of the house, its surroundings, its level of comfort, decoration and services, and reclassified at least once every 5 years. Whatever the classification, the owners are committed to making your stay a pleasant one.
1 épi: Simple rooms with full private bathroom facilities on the same level.
2 épis: Comfortable rooms, with full private bathroom facilities integrated into the room.
3 épis: High-comfort rooms, with full private bathroom facilities integrated into the room, carefully decorated to a high standard, hairdryer available.
4 épis : Very comfortable rooms, each with full private bathroom facilities. They are located in character properties in privileged surroundings. Additional services are often available (Internet access, Piscine, Spa, etc.). Large-size bedding.
5 épis : Rooms of exceptional comfort, parking on the property, landscaped park or garden, at least one leisure amenity (swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, Hammam, etc.), lounge area with flat-screen TV in each room, multi-jet shower or whirlpool bath, credit card payment.
City Break ranking
A City Break apartment or house is a quality property located in a city with a population of over 20,000, or in a contiguous urban area.
Comfort' accommodation : quality old or contemporary buildings, Internet connection, tasteful decoration, functional and comfortable facilities..
Premium' accommodation : top-of-the-range services and every comfort, characterful or historic buildings, vast spaces and beautiful volumes..
Luxury' accommodation : luxurious amenities, characterful, historic or listed buildings, privileged surroundings, Wellbeing / Spa facilities, spacious accommodation..
Holiday cottage classification for Kids
This formula provides a family environment for Kids aged 4 to 15. These vacations offer Kids the chance to discover life in the Countryside or on a farm, observe nature and take part in a range of educational and outdoor activities.
Children's cottages benefit from Gîtes de France® quality approval, which implies adherence to a national charter.
For groups of 6 or more Kids, the host family is assisted by one or more activity leaders, depending on capacity. Children's cottages are approved either :
- by the DDASS (Direction Départementale de l'Action Sanitaire et Sociale)
- by the DDJS (Direction Départementale Jeunesse et Sports)
If there are more than 11 Kids, vacation center regulations apply.
For activities requiring special knowledge, specialized instructors are in charge of supervision.
Classification of Campsites and Chalets
The "Nature" Campsites offer you a privileged space, with a maximum number of 25 Location. What's more, each one has a surface area ranging from 300 to 400 m2. You can enjoy the pleasures of nature in a friendly atmosphere, and take advantage of the leisure facilities available. Not to mention the opportunity to rediscover the flavors of our terroirs with farm produce. They are located on grassy, shady, well-exposed land, accessible in all weathers.
Depending on their level of comfort, they are classified from 1 to 4 "épis" (ears of corn).
1 épi : Owner's home nearby, equipped drying rack, 1 washing tub, 1 toilet, and depending on the number of pitches: 1 to 3 outdoor water points, 1 to 3 washbasins, 1 to 3 hot showers, 1 to 3 dishwashing tubs.
2 épis : In addition to the 1 épi equipment, playground for Kids and adults.
3 épis : In addition to (or instead of) the 2 épis facilities: electric hook-ups for caravans and motorhomes on at least 30% of pitches, chemical toilet emptying system, parking, covered shelter and garden furniture, and depending on the number of pitches: 2 to 3 washbasins, 2 to 4 showers, 1 to 3 dishwashing basins, 1 to 2 laundry basins, 2 to 4 toilets.
4 épis : In addition to (or instead of) 3 épis: outdoor lighting, common room, telephone accessible day and night (point-phone...) and depending on the number of Locations: 2 to 4 washbasins, 2 to 5 showers (with 1 to 2 washbasins in cabins), 2 to 4 dishwashing basins, 1 to 3 laundry basins, 4 to 5 toilets.
EC : In the process of being classified.
Tradition" Campsites have a maximum of 150 Locations of 80 to 100 m2 each, with entertainment and leisure facilities to ensure an enjoyable stay for the whole family.
They are rated from 1 to 4 stars by an accredited organization, according to the type and number of facilities they offer.
Some Campsites offer chalets and mobile homes for rent, for a new style of outdoor vacation.
Chalet, mobile home and Unusual villages are located in the heart of nature: the addresses presented here will welcome you and enable you to enjoy a wide range of activities (fishing, mountain biking, horse riding, archery, etc.) on site. They are always grouped together on the same site and generally have a capacity of 4 to 6 people. They are equipped with at least a living room with kitchenette, a bedroom and bathroom facilities.
