Gîtes de France Initiatives®
Gîtes de France® is continuing its actions and reinforcing its values of solidarity and sharing by creating Gîtes de France Initiatives®.
This endowment fund supports collective environmental projects in the broadest sense of the term, such as improving health, protecting the countryside, ecology, heritage conservation, civic education, sustainable development, energy, the cultural sector, etc.
The Board of Directors of Gîtes de France® Initiatives met on 22 June and selected the 2 winners for 2023.
We are therefore supporting them this year,
A "Social" project, through the Symbiose Association, which wishes to improve the care pathway and support for women with cancer and their carers, by creating the Symbiose House. A place of welcome and meetings in Plérin in the Côtes d'Armor. There is no house of this kind in Brittany, it is an innovative, economic and social project on the territory. This could make it possible to support 80 patients and their caregivers per year, thanks to the recurring animation of individual and collective workshops and to allow them to take time for themselves. The location of the House has already been found and the opening is scheduled for the start of the 2023 school year.
The “Heritage” project is located in the Gard, and will allow the restoration of an emblematic heritage element of the region, a cazelle. These dry stone huts were used by the winegrower or the shepherd to protect themselves from bad weather.
The cazelle is in the town of Campestre-et-Luc, over time it has completely collapsed, while it is regularly visited by tourists and locals. Restoration should begin in the fall to adapt to tourist numbers.
We are very proud to be able to help these 2 associations to complete their project, these are causes to which the entire Gîtes de France® network is very sensitive!
