Gîtes de France Initiatives 2025: two award-winning projects to promote heritage and social cohesion
Gîtes de France® strengthens its values of solidarity and sharing with Gîtes de France® Initiatives
This endowment fund supports collective projects focused on the environment in its broadest sense — including initiatives that promote health improvement, territorial protection, ecology, heritage preservation and conservation, civic education, sustainable development, energy transition, and the cultural sector.
In 2025, we launched two calls for projects on the following themes:
• The first project focuses on a social or health-related objective
• The second project aims to safeguard and preserve heritage
Each laureate received financial support covering 50% of the project’s total cost, up to €2,500.
In addition to this financial contribution, the laureates will benefit from dedicated communication support provided by the National Federation of Gîtes de France®, including press relations, social media coverage, and newsletter features.
The 2025 Laureates
Specializing in sport and health, the Activ'Sport association carries out a wide range of initiatives to make physical activity accessible to all: the elderly, the disabled and those suffering from chronic illnesses. With its "Sport pour elles" program, the association is particularly targeting isolated women aged between 20 and 50, living in the Kermoysan priority district of Quimper.
Honoring the memory and identity of a village. Lacapelle-Cabanac's Comité des fêtes et d'action culturelle has embarked on the creation of a 2.60 m square tile fresco depicting the village as it appeared on the 1838 Napoleonic cadastre. The work, by artist Bernard de Fréminville, will be installed on the wall of the village hall.
The 2024 Laureates
The "Social" project is that of the ZimZam association. It offers circus workshops adapted to young people with disabilities in the PACA region. Thanks to this funding, ZimZam will become the owner of an itinerant big top to meet the region's young people, even the most geographically isolated. This project aims to promote their social inclusion by using the circus as a therapeutic tool.
The "Patrimoine" project concerns the commune of Sault, in the Vaucluse region, which has renovated six communal washhouses and plans to install explanatory panels in 2024. The panels will highlight the history of the lavoirs, their architecture and their social role. A brochure will also be distributed to promote this heritage.
We're very proud to be able to help these two associations see their project through to the end, and these are causes to which the entire Gîtes de France® network is very sensitive!
