The amazing forests of Sarthe
Classed as a « Forêt d’Exception » since 2017, the Bercé Forest is a great favourite with walkers. The exceptional quality of its sessile oak managed by the Office National des Forêts (the oak is notably used to make barrels), its picturesque dales and organised landscape are amazing. The green heart of southern Sarthe, Bercé has a good choice of trails for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.

Sarthe is also home to the national forests of Perseigne, Sillé-le-Guillaume and Petite Charnie : horse riders, mountain bikers and walkers can explore these forests along 60km of bridle paths plus mountain bike circuits and numerous footpaths…or in a more unusual way like cani-hiking or dog-carting.
