On the heights of Saumur, come and discover the Château de Saumur, where King René once lived. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010, it now houses the Museums of France. Marvel at the panorama offered by this magnificent vantage point: a calm, peaceful Loire on which you can cruise in a toue cabanée, a traditional boat, or with Croisières de la Loire.
Saumur offers a wealth of cultural attractions! Between the Loire and the Vineyards, discover the City and its surroundings in a vintage combi with Loire Vintage Discovery.
And let's not forget the region's fabulous gastronomic and viticultural heritage: come and stroll down Rue Léopold Palustre, which offers a fine overview of the great Maisons de Fines Bulles Saumuroises: Bouvet Ladubay, Ackerman, Veuve Amiot, Langlois Château. Each offers guided tours and tastings of their Crémants de Loire. For oenological discoveries, head to the Maison des vins, located next to the Tourist Office, which is full of ideas for outings.
The Maison des Vins is a one-stop store for Loire Valley wines. Saumur boasts two other great Maisons de Fines Bulles, Louis de Grenelle, with its tuffeau cellars 12 m deep beneath the City's streets. In 2017, this House opened a boutique-gallery in the heart of Saumur City, where fine bubbles and art cohabit. On the way to Turquant, stop off at Gratien & Meyer, which overlooks the Loire and offers festive events for the general public during the summer.
On the same road, take your discovery a step further, to Dampierre-sur-Loire, where a very friendly craft brewery offers its Tina beers. In Saumur, you can also discover the secrets behind the production of the famous Combier products, with the sweet smell of orange peel wafting from the distillery.
