A cultural heritage to explore
Jersey and Guernsey are unusual places, shaped by the sea with magnificent panoramic views and an exceptional way of life. They also offer a wide range of activities for all ages, like boat trips or a cycle ride around the island.
The two islands have a rich history and a unique culture resulting from their Franco-British heritage with many wonderful places of interest to visit such as Mont Orgueil Castle and Elizabeth Castle on Jersey.
Both castles are venues for many events and activities. For example, you can abseil down the medieval walls of Mont Orgueil Castle and watch the master gunner who marches around then fires blank shot from the cannon.
Jersey attractions include kayaking trips, botanical gardens, an adventure trail to do with friends, and family attractions like a visit to La Mare Wine Estate and cider distillery.
Guernsey has lots of idyllic scenery and bracing walks along its cliffs, the island is a very restful and relaxing place to stay. During your visit, you can try to solve the mysteries of the AdventureRooms, learn to play golf on courses overlooking the sea and visit the aquarium to know more about the local marine life.
On Guernsey, you can also discover Hauteville House, where the writer Victor Hugo spent 18 years in exile after fleeing from France and being expelled from Jersey.
Not far from the Channel Islands
Make the most of a stay on Jersey or Guernsey to visit other Channel Islands like Sark or Alderney. You can also spend time in the different mainland ferry ports serving the islands like the superb seaside resort of Granville.
Visit famous Mont Saint-Michel to discover the history of this fascinating islet, Cherbourg and its Cité de la Mer, Saint Vaast la Hougue and Portbail just next to the port of Carteret.
How to get to the Channel Islands
There are daily ferry services to Jersey from Granville and Carteret. Coming by car from Paris, take A13 to Granville then RN13 to Carteret.
Ferries to Guernsey run from Diélette. Coming by car from Paris, take A13, then RN13.
There are regular services between Jersey and Guernsey so you can go from one island to the other."
