The Bay of Mont Saint Michel in Normandy

A unique bay, between Brittany and Normandy

Mont Saint-Michel, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture

Although the general view of Mont-Saint-Michel is very well-known, it never fails to arouse a sense of wonderment when you see it for the first time. The pyramid topped by a medieval abbey is still one of the most visited tourist attractions in France. Already in the Middle Ages, pilgrims used to come to the Mont from all over Europe to admire the village and the abbey which are amongst the finest masterpieces of Gothic architecture. To learn more about the history of the Mont, don’t hesitate to visit the Scriptorial d'Avranches, a museum which houses manuscripts from Mont-Saint-Michel.

A veritable emblem of Mont-Saint-Michel, Auberge de la Mère Poulard is famous for its omelettes, but you can also enjoy saltmarsh lamb there, one of the gastronomic specialities of the Manche region !
