Honfleur has everything you need for a Hen Party not far from Paris : massage treatment centres and steam baths for relaxation, shopping at the ‘Village de Marques’ outlet centre to give the bride-to-be a makeover, delicious food and wine at the Saturday morning market and other places, hot-air balloon rides and boat trips.

A holiday in Honfleur is also the opportunity for a family outing to explore the Seine Estuary, perhaps on a boat trip with commentary. The long sandy beaches bordered by the greenery of the Pays d’Auge are wonderful for swimming, from May to October for the most intrepid !

A day out in Honfleur…

Start with breakfast by the harbour with local apple juice from Pays d’Auge, croissant, fresh baguette and delicious salted butter ! Next, put on your trainers and walk for a couple of hours though the town’s cobbled streets, wander around art galleries and artist’s studios and admire paintings of all kinds at the Musée Eugène Boudin. Stop for a few minutes to watch an artist at work on a street corner.

Buy food for a local picnic lunch from the organic market at Place Saint Catherine where you can find cider from Pays d’Auge, AOP Isigny butter and Camembert, Pont l’Evêque and Livarot cheese. Stop off at the 15th century church of Sainte Catherine, the largest wooden church in France.

Have a little snooze beside the old harbour to the soothing sounds of boats gently chugging in and out, then off you go again !

Start the afternoon with some window shopping in the chic interior design shops of Honfleur. Then go up the hill through the Saint Léonard district for a panoramic view of the Pont de Normandie Bridge from Mont-Joli.

At the end of the day, leave Honfleur and take the children to Naturospace for a walk through the wonderful tropical glasshouses where birds and butterflies fly freely. Teenagers will adore a shopping trip to the Honfleur Normandy Outlet Centre for designer clothes at knockdown prices.

At the heart of Pays d'Auge

Honfleur is at the heart of the Pays d’Auge in Normandy. During your stay, make sure you explore its villages with half-timbered houses and small, traditional restaurants. Stop at Beuvron en Auge, Pont l’Evêque and Beaumont en Auge. The Route du Cidre tourist route is an ideal way to mosey along from village to village and taste delicious local specialities. Don’t forget to visit a distillery to see how Calvados is made and taste it too !

Spend another day out at Plage du Butin beach on the outskirts of Honfleur, which has fun activities for all the family including swimming, children’s play park, paddle boarding, bouncy castles, sea-wading and sandcastle competitions. If you are in Honfleur at the beginning of October, don’t miss the Fête de la Crevette et de la Pêche to taste « la petite grise (local shrimps) » ! There are so many great reasons to spend a weekend break or a week’s holiday in Honfleur !

BY ROAD : Honfleur is under 200 kilomètres from the centre of Paris. From A13, take A29 towards Le Havre then exit before the Pont de Normandie Bridge onto D289 for Honfleur."
