Deauville has been a luxury resort since the beginning of the 1800s. Its distinctive architecture has forged its character like the sea front villas dating from the Belle Epoque. In the background, the Impressionist movement of the 1800s reminds us that the resort often inspired great artists of the time like Eugène Boudin. Impressionism is still celebrated in Normandy today at the Festival Normandie Impressionniste.

Make a date at Deauville-La Touques race course to watch horse racing or polo matches between the best teams in the world. After a pleasant swim in the sea and a lie on the beach, it’s time to sit at one of the seaside pavement cafés or restaurants to admire the colourful sunset. A stunning sight.
End the day on a festive note at a jazz concert or on the wild dance floor at a nightclub in Deauville or Trouville. To enjoy the surrounding countryside, there’s nothing like a walk in Pays d’Auge through rolling countryside, forests and along the banks of the River Touques or a visit to one of the many stud farms which give the area its unique character.
Deauville is at the heart of the Côte Fleurie. For a little variety, go swimming at the fine sandy beaches of Villers-sur-Mer and Blonville-sur-Mer. Blonville-sur-Mer is a quiet seaside resort nicknamed the « paradis des enfants (children’s paradise) » ! Villers-sur-Mer is an elegant seaside village, well-known for its ‘Vaches Noires’ cliffs, its sheltered beach and Paléospace, a museum devoted to dinosaurs. Other pretty villages and seaside resorts which are well worth seeing include Pont l’Evêque, Villerville, Bénerville-sur-Mer, Touques and, a little further afield, Cabourg.

BY AIR : Deauville-Normandie airport at Saint Gatien des Bois. Shuttle or taxi to Deauville (8km).
BY RAIL : to Trouville-Deauville station, 2½ hours from Paris.
BY ROAD : Deauville is under 200 kilometres from the centre of Paris. From A13, take exit for Pont l’Evêque then follow signs for Deauville on D677.
