Saint-Anne sur la Grande-Terre
Sainte-Anne is on Grande-Terre, in the middle of the south coast, between Le Gosier and Saint-François.
A popular destination for a holiday with friends, family or a partner, Sainte-Anne is a tourist area ‘par excellence’ thanks to its magnificent beaches and wonderful attractions. It is a great place to stay in the countryside or near the beach with plenty of sporting activities like quad biking, mountain biking and water sports.
Sainte-Anne – essential places to see and gastronomy
Relax and enjoy Créole food beside the sea ! Places of interest include Place Schoelcher, popular with locals for Sunday outings, and mills such as Moulin de French, Moulin de Gissac and Moulin à Vent (windmill) du Helleux.
The craft village on the edge of the village features local products, souvenirs and craftwork. Further inland, visit the Grands-Fonds area with its limestone plateau which has been vertically eroded by rain and rivers.
Eat favourite dishes like lambi (conch) prepared like steak, grilled meat and fish and shellfish specialities like crawfish and ‘ouassous’.
Water sports at Sainte-Anne
You can do lots of different water sports at Sainte-Anne : surfing, windsurfing, kite-surfing, sailing, paddle-boarding, snorkelling, hire a water scooter to explore inaccessible places. At the heart of Sainte-Anne, the main beach enchants tourists and locals alike, with its fine sand, calm sea for swimming and lively atmosphere.
Other popular beaches include Plage de la Caravelle, Plage du Helleux and Plage de Bois Jolan.
Don’t forget to visit the delightful evening market which is held opposite the local stadium. The Trace du Prince is an easy walk to explore the forest and Grands-Fonds.
