French history in a single garden
In the Hauts-de-Seine department, not far from Paris, lies one of France's most important heritage parks: the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud. This importance is reflected in the fact that it has been owned by some of France's most illustrious figures. These include Napoleon Bonaparte, Catherine de Médicis and Marie-Antoinette, to name but a few. Listed as a Monument Historique since 1994, the park welcomes you to an environment of magnificent plant perspectives, designed by the famous royal gardener André Le Nôtre. As you stroll through the sophisticated pathways of the 460ha estate, you'll discover a jewel of landscaping that has passed from hand to hand over the centuries, eventually becoming home to the Musée National de Céramique de Sèvres.
More than a cultural and historical site, the Museums de Sèvres is a unique repository for the 50,000 objects in its collection. Almost 200 years after its foundation, the museum continues to attract enthusiasts and the curious to discover a craft and a know-how, through a variety of horizons ranging from Japan to Spain, via the ancient world and the Renaissance. The program is sure to appeal to Kids, who can marvel at the works of art before heading off to explore the park.
Enjoy a setting as natural as it is historic
