Chalmazel is a village and winter sports resort in the Massif Central. Its alpine ski area extends from 1,109m to 1,600m altitude on the slopes of Pierre-sur-Haute, highest point of the Monts du Forez (1,634 metres), among the high forest and wild moorland of the Hautes Chaumes.

The resort has 12km of downhill skiing pistes reached by a chairlift and 7 surface lifts and it is equipped with 90 snow cannon. Cross-country skiing takes place in the Nordic area at Col de la Loge and kite-skiing on the bare high-altitude plateaux. In summer the resort offers outdoor activities like treetop adventure trails, mountain bike tracks with acrobatic ramps and walks starting from the resort or at the top of the chair lift.
