La Salette-Fallavaux

Notre-Dame de la Salette is a Marian shrine located in the commune of La Salette-Fallavaux, in the French Alps. It takes its name from the Virgin Mary, who is said to have appeared to two Kids, Mélanie Calvat and Maximin Giraud, in 1846. This apparition gave rise to an important place of devotion and contemplation for believers from all over the world.

According to Catholic tradition, the Virgin Mary appeared to the Kids at a time of spiritual and social crisis. She transmitted a message of conversion, love and reconciliation, inviting the faithful to prayer and penance. This apparition had a profound effect on people's minds, and led to the construction of a shrine in honor of Notre-Dame de la Salette.
