Morzine-Avoriaz
Morzine – a traditional village at the heart of the Alps
Morzine-Avoriaz is one of the prettiest places in the French Alps, a timeless destination snuggled around the small picture postcard village of Morzine with its wooden chalets and typical slate roofs. The forward-thinking resort of Avoriaz joined up with it to form the destination of Morzine-Avoriaz. If this destination has remained fashionable, it is thanks to its Haut-Savoyard way of life, built around traditions handed down from generation to generation just like recipes, strong values and a pronounced taste for innovation. An unrivalled relaxed way of life reigns at Morzine-Avoriaz, a destination which has the key to a happy holiday and to the Portes du Soleil ski area.

Despite the arrival of tourism and skiing, Morzine has retained its authenticity – the village still looks exactly as it did in days gone by. It has kept its typical character while opening up to a reasonable level of tourism. Its sense of hospitality is passed on from generation to generation. Morzine has also kept its lifestyle which is delicious in every sense of the word. It has kept alive the mountain traditions of an agro-pastoral society, recipes typical of Haute Savoie and its dialect which is still spoken by older locals. Come and sample this wonderful way of life for yourself !
The appearance of Morzine has remained unchanged for centuries, which gives it all of its charm. Nestled in the Vallée d’Aulps, this typical Savoie village sets itself apart from other mountain destinations by the warmth of its welcome and an incomparable mountain way of life. Situated in unspoilt countryside, covered with forests and alpine pasture, Morzine has huge undeveloped open spaces devoted to leisure and relaxation. Ideally located between Lac Léman to the north, Mont Blanc-Chamonix to the south and very close to Switzerland, Morzine is one of the resorts of the Portes de Soleil, a magnificent winter playground with 650km of pistes and just as many marked paths for walking and mountain biking in summer.
For skiing, Morzine has access to Avoriaz and Les Gets and all of the Portes du Soleil ski area.
The Portes du Soleil ski area comprises 12 interconnected ski resorts between France and Switzerland.
From Morzine, at the heart of this area, you can quickly reach Les Gets or Avoriaz and continue on into Switzerland. It is an ideal spot for discovering two countries and two cultures !
