Situated one and a half hours from Paris, between Belgium and the Bourgogne, the Champagne-Ardenne region promises a sparkling time to nature and sports enthusiasts, with 600 kilometres of navigable waterways, 240,000 hectares of forest, four lakes amongst which there is the Lac du Der-Chantecoq, and two nature parks.
The 500 rivers of the Haute-Marne are a an angler's paradise and guarantee them some very good catches. Historical architecture enthusiasts will enjoy a visit to Reims "la royale" and Troyes "la lumineuse". Step from the fortress of Rocroi to the fortress of Langres; and from the medieval castle of Sedan to the basilica of Notre-Dame de l'Epine and the cathedral of Reims. Each region has its own distinctive feature: golden stone covered with black slate, chalk and red brick, wattle and daub or white stone.
The touristic Champagne route holds the keys to the doors of sixty producers. As you wander through the Montagne de Reims, the Marne valley, the Côte des Blancs and the Côte des Bars, you will travel along a sparkling route, with the local specialities such as dried ham, andouillette de Troyes (chitterlings) and Croquignoles de Reims as your travelling companions.
