Situated in a pleasant natural setting on the outskirts of the City, this Bed and breakfast offers a very pleasant stay just a stone's throw from Montargis, a picturesque town in the Centre-Val-de-Loire region, an hour south of Paris. Nestled between the Briare Canal and the Loing River, close to Lake des Closiers, it offers a haven of peace that combines direct immersion in nature with pedestrian proximity to the City, via its new Marina. Montargis, the little "Venice of the Gâtinais", is one of France's hundred "Most Beautiful Detours", thanks in particular to its vast and unique network of canals and rivers, linked by 132 bridges and footbridges. Its charming lanes, picturesque islets, flower-filled locks, half-timbered houses and historic buildings invite you to stroll and discover. Montargis offers an interesting variety of cultural and outdoor activities: visit the Musée de l'Amitié franco-chinoise, stroll through the Pêcherie district, visit the Circuit des Ponts, see the paintings at the Musée Girodet, taste artisanal confectionery at the "Maison de la Prasline Mazet", take up rowing (introductory course every Saturday morning) or sailing. For hikers and "Petite-Reine" enthusiasts, the region also abounds in hiking trails and green two-wheeled itineraries, including the renowned Scandibérique European cycle route, linked to the Val-de-Loire. A number of sites of tourist interest are well worth a detour: the small town of Ferrières-en-Gâtinais, the Forest of Paucourt, the national arboretum at Nogent-sur-Vernisson, the Resistance and Deportation Museum at Lorris. To the south, the Loire is dotted with the delightful Briare bridge, Saint-Benoît abbey and the castles of Sully and Gien. This Bed and breakfast is located on the 1st floor of the owners' house with independent access, it comprises: Ground floor: - a private independent entrance with tourist documentation, books, board games...
1st floor :
- a private living room (approx. 40 m²) with sitting area, dining area, fully-equipped kitchen, and a private balcony with garden furniture; - a bedroom (approx. 12 m²) with a 180x200 cm double bed (separable into 2 90x200cm single beds) ;
- Enjoy a delicious breakfast, served in your private dining room, on your balcony in fine weather, or on the owners' terrace overlooking the garden.
Evening table d'hôtes supplements: "Menu gourmand" at 29€ (gourmet salad, chicken with capres orzo spinach and mushrooms risotto style, fine apple tart, wine included) or "Menu étape" at 18€ (chicken leek quiche, fresh salad, fruit salad, wine included). Entrance is via a courtyard shared with the Holiday cottage "Une Rive au Loing", also located on site. You can relax on your private balcony with a lovely view of the Briare canal, or enjoy the shared garden with the owner, equipped with deckchairs and garden furniture. 50m away is a free public parking area (for low-slung vehicles only). The Bed and breakfast has no electric vehicle charging facilities.
