Le Repaire du Moulin Neuf

Located in NOHANT, less than 5 minutes from Romanesque chapels and medieval castles, as well as less than 5 minutes from the amenities offered by the City of La CHATRE, the REPAIRE du MOULIN NEUF is unique in that it is the “home” of the heroine of the novel “LA PETITE FADETTE” and for having its front door at the foot of the sunken path that George SAND and her famous friends regularly took in search of renewal along the river. Once fallen into disuse, this 18th-century Berry-style house—renovated in 2022 in a “21st-century style”—is nestled in a bright, leafy setting bordered by the Moulin Neuf millstream and the Indre River. Included in the rental: bed linens and towels, “post-stay” housekeeping, heating and electricity, and internet access.

-On the ground floor: main entrance leading into the living area with kitchen, dining room, and a "relaxation" corner around the panoramic wood-burning stove.

-On the mezzanine: one bedroom with a double bed and one bedroom with two single beds.

-On the first floor: a “Reading, Hi-Fi & TV” lounge area (sofa bed, ottomans) and the bathroom (toilet, sink, multi-jet shower stall, washing machine).

-In the basement on the garden side: storage & laundry room (sink + dryer, ironing supplies).

The home opens directly onto its outdoor amenities: the private parking area and the spacious, rustic garden with a “barbecue & picnic table under a parasol” area, a terrace with “reclining sun loungers,” and a shaded terrace with an “outdoor lounge.”

- Along the riverbank and the mill race, the "path" leading to the garden and the garden itself are not fenced off. Adults should keep a close watch on any kids approaching the water and ensure that kids are not left alone in the garden.
- Smoking is not permitted inside the building. Smoking is permitted outdoors (ashtrays are provided in the garden—please empty them before departure).
- Hosting “parties” is prohibited.
- The holiday cottage rules (sent by email for review in advance) must be signed by the tenant upon key pickup.
