Azay-le-Rideau and its superb château (also worth a visit is the château de l'Islette, home to the tumultuous love affairs of two great sculptors, Camille Claudel and Auguste Rodin), Villandry and its magnificent Renaissance gardens, Saché (château and Balzac museum) as well as Chinon and its royal fortress, the many vineyards in the region, cycling tours, Chenonceau and Amboise are just some of the treasures to be discovered.
