On the borders of Anjou, Touraine and Poitou, you'll have the privilege of being close to some of the most majestic sites in French history. The Royal fortress of Chinon, where Joan of Arc met the King, is just 12 minutes away. The splendid town and its castle are a must-see. The Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, Europe's largest monastic city, is around 20 minutes away. The confluence of the Vienne and Loire rivers is a magical vantage point, at Candes-St-Martin, one of France's most beautiful villages, on the way to Saumur, famous for its château and Cadre Noir.
