A literal haven of peace & quiet in the heart of the village! Very comfortable guest house in an elegant château steeped in history dating from 1787 - nestled in an intimate 2-hectare park with century-old trees - nestled in the very heart of the charming medieval & commercial town of Marcigny, a "Cluniac site" renowned for its Monday morning market created in 1266 (many amenities on site). Just a stone's throw from the gentle Brionnais countryside, combining sumptuous bocage & beautiful forests, and the banks of the Loire (Europe's last wild river, classified & protected as a "Natura 2000 Zone" for its very rich ecosystem) skirted by the "quiet canal" linking Roanne to Digoin. Ideally located on the route of the Romanesque church circuit, a signposted "balade verte" footpath (a very rich network of hiking trails of the same type throughout the region), the "Véloire" greenway connected to EuroVélo6, a 30 km "Coup de Cœur" mountain bike itinerary & a 55 kms "Coup de Cœur bike loop" (identical 88 kms itinerary accessible from 19 km), 30 km from the first Côtes Roannaises vineyards & 50 km from the Beaujolais vineyards (& the "Route des Vins de Bourgogne"). Privileged location at the very southern tip of Burgundy, in the heart of the magnificent Charolais-Brionnais region (labelled "Pays d'Art et d'Histoire"), cradle of world-renowned AOC cattle and sheep breeds, rich in sumptuous landscapes and an exceptional historical heritage, at the crossroads of Sologne & Montagne Bourbonnaise and Pays Roannais, not far from Mâconnais-Clunisois and Beaujolais. A prime location for easy access to several départements (at the crossroads of the Allier, Loire & Rhône rivers): 22 km from the characterful town of Charlieu (& its exceptional Romanesque Benedictine abbey), 25 km from La Clayette, 25 km from Paray-le-Monial, 26 km from Digoin (& its river marina linked to the Canal du Centre), 30 km from Roanne, 31 km from Charolles & 50 km from Beaujeu (historic capital of Beaujolais). The ideal vacation spot for a relaxing break "out of time"! A place that exudes the art of living...
