A typical village steeped in history, the cradle of oil shale mining in the Autunois region (from the late 19th to the early 20th century), this former mining town with its world-renowned deposits (a few remnants of this period remain just a few kilometers away) nestles at the crossroads of the verdant valleys of the Arroux and Drée rivers (which are rich in fish), in a bucolic setting of rolling countryside and nature, combining agriculture & nature, between arable fields, wooded meadows, rivers & ponds and deep, wild forests (including the nearby Planoise national forest, one of the largest in France, and the famous vast Morvan forest massif). A 100% restful, unspoilt setting and surrounding area, ideal for rejuvenating walks or mountain bike rides. Very comfortable Holiday cottage.
